First look at the development build
We've shared eight actual in-game screenshots from this week's development build in the gallery above. They show the 1940 campaign city, a crew incident from start to finish, the roads out to the countryside, and some of the properties you'll fight over. Everything you see is still work in progress.
Getting ready for Steam
Our Steamworks partner account is set up and we're waiting on Valve to confirm our details. Once that's through, the MafiaOC store page goes live so you can wishlist the game. MafiaOC will release on Steam.
Scope for launch
The base game covers the 1940s. Later eras will follow as expansions after launch. MafiaOC is a single-player PC game with no online play.
Real time with pause, plus optional turn-based modes
Sandbox setup: character creation, map size, economy, police strength and rival families
Name your own boss and any children; other characters get random names
Moving to Unreal Engine 5
We've moved development to Unreal Engine 5. The game is a 3D top-down strategy world with a soft, stylised, period-accurate look, set across a fictional city with its own district names.
Design document complete
The full design is written: the eras, building a family into a dynasty with heirs, sit-downs and alliances with rival families, and rivals that grow and change across generations.
